Josie McCoy

Of the British artists of the younger generation, Josie McCoy is among those who is having an impact on the international art scene, fascinating the public and the critics with her high-impact beautiful paintings.

Josie McCoy graduated from the MA Fine Art course at Central Saint Martins in 1999.

She has had solo shows in London, Newcastle, Milan and Santiago de Compostela, and has exhibited in numerous group shows including the BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery, Vector Vecteur, L'Espace d'animation des Blancs Manteaux, Paris, The Dream of Putrefaction at The Metropole Galleries, Folkestone and The Fieldgate Gallery, London and Face Value at the Oriel Mostyn.

Her paintings are in private and public collections including: the BBC, Collection of University of Wales, The Centre of Attention Permanent Collection, Jeremy Mogford Collection and the Borchard Collection of British Self-Portraits in the 20th Century.

Josie McCoy paints portraits of female personalities drawn from the TV or from the cinema.They are personalities who have become icons of
the collective imagination in which the fusion between the identity of the artist and the character has become blurred.
