Exhibiting some existing and some new artwork Sarah Jane Brown's show also extended by popular demand. Corrie Chiswell Winner of the painting category of Welsh Artist of the Year 2009 Corrie's work is a reflection of personal experience, a fascination with painting the figure and a strong leaning towards surrealism and symbolism which allow her to build a cryptic narrative around her subject. Inspiration comes from literature, dreams, people and the world around her. Corrie creates compositions that are rooted in reality but then goes on to alter that reality through surreal manipulation of the figure, its landscape and perspective. She paints intimate portrayals, often in confined claustrophobic compositions, or figures dominating the landscape of the canvas. Her work is often concerned with ideas of transition, metamorphosis or hybrids which manifest themselves in representational figurative work through to more heavily stylised forms. Sarah Jane Brown Sarah Jane Brown is a full time professional artist who has exhibited widely, including shows throughout the UK, London and New York. She has had several successful, solo shows as well as completing a 3 month full time Residency at Oriel y Parc (Gallery & Visitor Centre for the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park). She has also had works selected for the 'Cork Street Open' in Mayfair and The Royal Society of Marine Artists at the prestigious 'Mall Galleries'. Phil Alder Phil studied fine art and economics at Hull College of Education in the late 1960s at a time of fierce debate over the validity of abstract art against urban realisms. This was tricky for him as his primary source was rural. He moved to west Wales and continued his studies into art history. Off the Wall is currently holding important examples where the story of place are abstracted into paint and very recent paintings where his garden near Carmarthen are evoked. Geoff Brown Geoff Brown is an artist based in West Wales. He studied Fine Art at the Camberwell School of Art, London. He was a full time teacher of Art & Design from 1971 to 2004. Since 2004 he has concentrated on his painting although continues to teach part time. Exhibitions include one man shows at the Chapter Arts Cardiff; Smiths Gallery London and 5 Dryden Street London. Recent exhibitions include a two person show at Exposure Gallery, Swans.
