Off the Wall, is Wales’ premier, modern, contemporary art gallery which features art of the highest quality from some of the most talented artists both in the UK and internationally. We are pleased to announce our next show, featuring Val Kosh who is exhibiting for the first time in Wales. Val lived in Italy for a number of years, where the hundreds of medieval hill towns, silhouetted against the sky, in the beautiful and vast landscape, became the inspiration for much of her painting. Since returning to the UK Val is finding renewed inspiration from the British landscape and this new exhibition is a remarkable result of this. Artist’s information: Val Kosh Val Kosh was born in Staffordshire and she studied fine art at Stoke-on-Trent Art School and Trent Park College, Middlesex University. She gained a Masters of Art Education from Liverpool University. Val taught art in comprehensive schools for a number of years before working in the Art Advisory Service for Cheshire. She then moved to the Fine Art Department of the University of Chester where she taught on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Throughout her career Val continued to create her own art and has exhibited work both nationally and internationally. The latest body of work is inspired by the Sandstone Trail, where she and her husband regularly walk with their dog, Bradley. The Trail runs, via moorland, woodland, hedgerows and heathlands, along the sandstone ridges of Cheshire. Much of the Trail is elevated and offers spectacular views right across the Cheshire plain and to the Mersey and Liverpool. Through the paintings Val attempts to capture something of the atmosphere of this inspirational area rather than making representational images. She hopes that they leave room for viewers to make their own interpretations.
